7 Decades of Excellence The Journey

Brief History

1939

Dalmia Cement Unit was started as venture towards building a self reliant India.
Installed 250 Tonnes per day kiln to manufacture cement by semi-dry process. Machinery was then supplied by M/s Polysius, Germany

1949

Installed a 500 tonnes per day wet process kiln supplied by M/s F.L.S.Smidth, Denmark

1958

Magnesite operations commenced

1959

Expansion was undertaken with the installation of another 500 Tonnes per day wet process Folax Kiln supplied by M/s F.L.S.Smidth, Denmark

1970

Govan Travels acquired

1976

Developed specialty cement for railway sleepers

1981

1st to install raw meal vertical roller mill

1984

Developed specialty cement for oil wells

1986

Introduced poly bags for cement packaging

1989

The only company in South India getting assistance from world bank World bank set up its Regional Training Centre

1992

Computerized quarry scheduling

1994

Entry into sugar business with capacity of 7500 TCD

2005

Brownfield Expansion of cement capacity from 1.5MT to 3.5MT

2008-09

Integrated 3 sugar plants with total capacity of 22,500 TCD

2009-10

ARIYALUR, in Tamil Nadu commissioned (2.5MT)

2010

Commissioned refractory plant at Katni
Commissioned 27 MW captive thermal power plant at Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu
Signed power purchase agreement for sale of power from 10 MW solar power project at district Jodhpur Rajasthan

2011

Signed MoU with Government of Jharkhand for setting up a 1320 MW coal based thermal power plant at Deoghar, Jharkhand

2012

Signed power purchase agreement with Jharkhand State Electricity Board for sale of power from 1320 MW coal based thermal power plant at Deoghar, Jharkhand

Sugar

Acquired Shri Datta Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd, Kholapur
Total cane crushing capacity increased to 25000 TCD

Cement

Enters North East India, Acquired Calcom Cement and Adhunik Cement
Total capacity of the group - 21.8 MTPA including Belgaum Plant. Dalmia Bharat Cement as a top quartile producer in India
