DIKSHa Bokaro Wins ‘Most Innovative Idea’ Award at IIT ISM Dhanbad

Bokaro, January 20, 2026: Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Dalmia Bharat Ltd, through its skill development initiative DIKSHa Bokaro, marked a proud milestone as its students were awarded the ‘Most Innovative Idea’ Award at IIT ISM Dhanbad during the National Startup Day celebrations. The recognition was awarded for the successful development of an innovative Used Engine Oil–operated stove, created using discarded and burnt engine oil, offering a sustainable and cost-effective solution for energy utilization. The award ceremony was attended by distinguished dignitaries including the Deputy Commissioner of Dhanbad, Shri Aditya Ranjan, leading entrepreneurs, and representatives from the Jharkhand Entrepreneurs Association and the Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC).

The center was started in 2023 in partnership with SAIL, offering skill development training in 5 different trades. It has trained over 1000 youth since inception and has achieved a settlement rate of more than 75%.

The award own’s journey gained momentum after a visit by MSME Chairman Shri Shashi Bhushan Srivastava. His social media post highlighting the trainees' work attracted IIT ISM Dhanbad, which subsequently organized a National Industrial Exhibition-cum-Seminar at DIKSHa Bokaro on December 15, 2025.

The project was selected after a rigorous national-level evaluation process, following an online pre-evaluation. The award-winning project was developed by trainees Sameer Bahadur, Vishal Kumar and Sahil Kumar, under the technical guidance of instructor Shri Ramanuj Sharma, with strong institutional support from DIKSHa team. DIKSHa Bokaro received a citation along with a cash award of INR 35,000 for the winning innovation.

Commenting on the initiative, Shri Sunil Kumar K. Bhusari, Unit Head, DCBL, Bokaro, said: “We at Dalmia Bharat are proud to see DIKSHa students earn national recognition for an innovation that combines sustainability with real-world applicability.
