Dalmia Bharat Foundation Celebrates First Batch Graduation from its DIKSHa Centres in Meghalaya

Shillong, August 7, 2025: In a continued effort to bridge the skill gap and promote employability among youth, Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the CSR arm of Dalmia Bharat Ltd. (DBL), marked a significant milestone in Meghalaya with its DIKSHa skill training initiative. Within just six months of operations, the two newly launched DIKSHa centres, located at Jaintia Eastern College, Khliehriat and Thangskai, have successfully trained over 60 youth in industry-relevant vocational skills. To mark the graduation of the first batch for FY 2025–26, both centres recently hosted valedictory ceremonies. Trainees from the Assistant Electrician course at Thangskai and the Beauty Care course at Khliehriat received their certifications. The events were followed by dedicated placement drives to support the trainees’ transition into the workforce.
Commenting on the completion of training of the first batch, Mr. Padmanav Chakravorty, Regional Manufacturing Head, North East, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited shared, “It’s heartening to witness the enthusiastic participation at our DIKSHa centres in Meghalaya. This initial milestone reinforces the region’s potential and the need for skill-based training. We look forward to empowering more youth in the coming months and supporting their journey towards sustainable livelihoods.”
Trainees also expressed the positive impact the programme has had on their personal and professional growth. Justness Dkhar, from the Beauty Care course, said, “I have gained confidence, knowledge, and hands-on experience from this course. The training has given me the foundation to start my own services. I am thankful to Dalmia Bharat Foundation and Jaintia Eastern College for giving us this opportunity in our hometown.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Estar Swer shared, “Being part of this course has been one of the best decisions of my life. Apart from learning beauty care skills, I have also developed discipline, time management, and communication skills. I now feel proud of myself and hopeful for what lies ahead.”
The events witnessed participation from local administration and institutional partners, underlining strong community engagement. At Khliehriat, the certificate distribution was conducted in the presence of Mr. Manish Kumar, IAS, SDO (Sadar). The event at Thangskai saw the participation of Ms. Diewipaia Tongper, MDC, JHADC; Mr. Phervision Nongtdu, Principal, Jaintia Eastern College; and Mr. Amlanjit Das, Project Lead, CII Foundation.

DIKSHa is part of DBF’s broader commitment to sustainable livelihoods through community-driven development. The program goes beyond employment, empowering youth to contribute meaningfully to regional economic growth. The centres are designed to evolve with local needs, ensuring continued relevance and impact.
