Honours Odisha’s Traditional Boat-Making Craftsmen with the DSP Expert Boita Shilpkar Samman at Bali Jatra 2025
Cuttack, November 5, 2025: Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL), one of India’s leading cement majors, is participating in the historic Balijatra 2025 held at Cuttack from the 5th Nov till 14th Nov 2025. Through this historic festival they paid tribute to the traditional boat-making craftsmen of Odisha. In alignment with its brand ethos of honouring expertise and craftsmanship, the company has launched a special initiative to recognize and felicitate these artisans. As part of the initiative, two distinguished craftsmen Shri Sukanta Nayak and Shri Basant Nayak were honoured with the DSP Expert Boita Shilpkar Samman, recognizing their skill, artistry, and contribution to Odisha’s maritime legacy.
The boat holds deep cultural and historical significance for the state, symbolizing the spirit of enterprise and maritime trade once carried out with regions such as Bali, D’Jakarta, and Sumatra. Through this initiative, Dalmia Cement aims to recognize and celebrate the heritage of traditional boat-making, a craft that is gradually fading in the modern age.

Dalmia Cement’s brand pavilion was inaugurated by Shri Navin Tewari, in the presence of company officials, employees, channel partners, masons, contractors, and their families. The pavilion marks Dalmia Cement’s continued and strategically significant participation in this historic fair, serving as an interactive space for community engagement that enables the brand to connect with stakeholders and share its enduring message of progress, development, and tradition. On the sidelines, more than 30 special children from an orphanage, Nation- supported by Dalmia Cement’s KCW plant at Kapilas performed at the pavilion’s opening ceremony, reflecting the brand’s enduring commitment to compassion, inclusion, and shared progress.
The pavilion also highlights Dalmia Cement’s 75-year partnership with Odisha’s growth story. The company established its first unit at Rajgangpur in 1950 to support the construction of the Hirakud Dam, one of India’s earliest post-independence infrastructure projects.
