Odisha, July 8, 2024: Dalmia Bharat Limited (DBL), a leading cement manufacturer in India, reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship with a vibrant ‘Van Mahotsav’ celebration in Odisha. The week-long festival held from July 1st to July 7th, featured impactful green initiatives and community engagements across Odisha, resulting in the planting and distribution of over 4000 saplings around the company’s Rajgangpur and Cuttack cement facilities. This tree plantation drive aims to raise awareness about environmental conservation and promote sustainability, reflecting Dalmia Bharat’s dedication to protect and nurture natural resources for a greener future.
Commenting on the initiative Shri Pankaj Gupta, Assistant Executive Director, DCBL and Unit Head, Kapilas Cement Works said “ At Dalmia Bharat, sustainability is fundamental to our operations. Over the years, we have planted 22000 trees around our Cuttack and similar numbers are planted around the Rajgangpur facilities and Lanjiberna mine areas, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and climate resilience. These efforts are pivotal in maintaining ecological balance and inspiring future generations to prioritize environmental stewardship. The overwhelming support from our employees, local communities and stakeholders fuels our determination to spearhead further initiatives in environmental conservation, collectively shaping a greener future for generations to come.”
The Kapilas Cement Manufacturing Works (KCW) Unit in Cuttack planted 400 trees and distributed 3000 saplings to surrounding areas. The Cuttack event, held at Kushapada Ashram School, included a prize distribution ceremony recognizing winners of debate, drawing, and quiz competitions, fostering a spirit of learning and creativity among the students. Esteemed guests included the DFO-Cuttack, Range Officer-Dalijoda Forest, Block Education Officer, Headmaster of Kushapada Ashram School, and the CSR team of Dalmia Bharat Foundation. Varieties of plants such as Neem, Mango, cashew, Guava, Drumsticks, Papaya, and others were planted and distributed, reinforcing the initiative’s ecological impact. Also, Rajgangpur Cement unit successfully planted over 1000 saplings in seven locations (AFR backside along boundary wall and Kishkindha Van, BRU side, Dalmia Vidya Mandir School Garden, L1 packing House, L3 clinker gate, Indraprastha) around the facility and 200 saplings at Lanjiberna Mines throughout the week. The inauguration ceremony on July 1st featured participation from all Heads of Departments, with Shri Chetan Srivastava as the Chief Guest. The day also saw a tree plantation event at Kishkindha Van, involving members of the Ladies Club and its President as the Chief Guest.
