UN Climate Ambition Summit 2020: Dalmia Cement reaffirms to become carbon-negative by 2040

75 countries participated in the summit; pledged to increase climate action

New Delhi, 15th December 2020: Climate Ambition Summit 2020, co-hosted by the United Nations, UK, and France, in partnership with Chile and Italy on Dec. 12th, fifth anniversary of Paris Climate Agreement, was an opportunity to Governments, Civil Society and private sector to present more ambitious and progressive climate commitments to limit global warming to 1.5C.

Speaking at the Summit, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi emphasised how India will exceed the Paris Climate Agreement goals and highlighted that country has reduced its emission intensity by 21% from 2005 levels.

At the end of the Climate Ambition Summit, the COP-26 President and Secretary of State for Business in Government of U.K. concluded his remarks by praising the Governments and private sector in taking ambitious commitments in solving climate crisis. Mr. Singhi emphasised on global collaborations and mentioned Dalmia Cement’s collaborations with stakeholders globally towards realisation of the carbon negative roadmap with specific reference to scalable deployment of deep decarbonisation technologies such as 100% renewable electricity, energy efficiency improvements and Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) in a just transition approach.
